Kobayakawa is on Oink Games’ SPIEL Essen lineup at €20, but check which edition you are buying. The revised box supports three to eight players and lets people who fold bet on another player’s result. That is a useful distinction when an older copy with the same name turns up in a shop or second-hand listing.
Oink’s October 7 show guide places it at Hall 6, booth 6-C310, during the October 22–25 fair. The listing specifies 28 cards, 94 chips and rules in English, German, French and Spanish. This is an imminent event-shopping opportunity, not the game’s worldwide debut.
Folding does not end your betting
The central trick remains: the shared Kobayakawa card boosts the lowest hand, so the biggest printed number need not win. The revised edition adds a reason to keep watching after withdrawing. If at least two players contest the round, those who retreated predict a winner; anyone with chips left must stake one to three. A correct prediction returns twice that stake.

For a demo, ask to see a round with several players withdrawing. Does backing somebody else’s hand give your group enough to discuss, or would it rather move straight to the next deal? That is a more useful buying test than assuming extra players automatically improve the game. GameGuideDog has not played this edition; this is a reported buyer guide, not a review.
Same name, different box
Oink’s older product page lists three to six players. The revised page identifies a 2025 edition, influenced by the digital Let’s Play! Oink Games version. Hachette Boardgames UK also lists that revised physical edition at £20, with a June 1, 2026 publication date. That UK listing is separate from Essen’s euro price, not a currency conversion or a delivered total.

Check the player count, component list and manual languages before paying. The fair listing does not establish a Polish edition, guaranteed stock or a new October worldwide release. Existing owners should inspect the prediction rule before buying another box; newcomers should confirm they are looking at the intended edition.
