Kena: Scars of Kosmora moves to 2027; the old 2026 window is out

Kena: Scars of Kosmora is now a 2027 release, not a 2026 one. Ember Lab announced the change on October 1, saying it needs more time to polish the expanded adventure. The plan remains PS5, in physical and digital formats, and PC digitally. There is no exact date yet.

The useful update for anyone planning purchases is the changed window. The studio’s new story overview gives some context for what it is building, but it does not turn the delay into a promise of better performance or a finished-game quality verdict.

Use the dated announcement, not the old marketing module

The February 12 reveal originally put Scars of Kosmora in 2026. Ember Lab’s October 1 announcement explicitly moves that window to 2027.

There is still a potential source of confusion: when checked on October 4 UTC, the PlayStation product page retained a module promoting anticipated games of 2026. That older marketing context does not override the studio’s newer, dated release statement. If you see the old year while browsing, the current announcement is the one to use.

The year change also does not tell us how many months of extra development are involved. Neither the original year-only window nor the replacement provides a day or month. Treat 2027 as the current planning window, rather than infer a particular season or an exact length of delay.

A broader adventure, still described as linear

Ember Lab calls Scars of Kosmora a character-focused linear adventure with a broader and deeper scope than Bridge of Spirits. More room to explore does not, by itself, establish an open-world format. The studio’s own description keeps the distinction clear.

The overview ties Kosmora’s Spirit Guide temples to elemental traditions and describes them as dungeon experiences. It also outlines a crystalline canine spirit companion that serves as a mount and helps Kena with combat and puzzles. Those are developer descriptions of the intended design, not impressions from a GameGuideDog play session.

They explain what Ember Lab means by an expanded experience more usefully than a general claim about scale. They do not establish how the temples are paced, how the companion feels to control or whether the larger adventure delivers on its ambitions. The official images accompanying this report are concept art, not evidence of those systems working in the finished game.

What changes for players

For now, move Scars of Kosmora out of the 2026 release calendar and keep the PS5/PC platform plan separate from the missing exact date. Ember Lab attributes the move to polishing; there is no verified basis here for a different explanation, a price claim or additional platforms.

The next useful checkpoint is a more precise release date. Until then, 2027 is the confirmed window, while the new design overview is a preview of the studio’s plans rather than a reason to make a buying recommendation.
