ArcheAge Chronicles entered Steam Early Access on November 3, but friends planning their first session have two separate problems to avoid: choosing different servers and breaking up a dungeon party too early. The distinction matters. A channel change cannot repair a server mismatch, and sharing a party does not mean every member has the keys needed to progress.
There is also a new interruption to plan around. In its November 4 maintenance notice, posted at 14:10 UTC, XLGAMES announces downtime starting at 09:00 PT on November 4, with an estimated duration of two hours. The game will be unavailable during that window. The studio says the schedule and details may change; this is an announced maintenance window, not confirmation that repairs have already reached players.
Agree on a server before creating characters
The November 2 server notice is explicit: players on different servers cannot play together, and characters cannot transfer between servers during Early Access. A possible future transfer feature is under consideration, without a confirmed introduction date or even a promise that it will happen.
For a group buying together, server selection belongs before character creation. Do not choose separately on the assumption that a later transfer will bring everyone together. The November 4 response also discusses a party-interface button for moving to the leader’s channel, whose appearance conditions need clearer guidance. That is a channel tool, not an exception to the separate cross-server restriction.
Stay together beyond the dungeon exit
In the November 4 launch-issues response, XLGAMES says progression can become blocked if the party disbands or its leader leaves during a dungeon. Its interim advice is to keep the party together until everyone has moved into the next area after completing the dungeon. The studio cautions that this issue’s underlying structure may make a fix take time.
Keys need a separate check. Some key items are not shared among party members, so the developer tells each player to obtain their own. These are developer instructions, not workarounds GameGuideDog has tested. Neither instruction establishes that every progression problem can be avoided.

Prepared fixes are not confirmed fixes
The earlier response lists tutorial-progression and boss-spawning fixes as ready for deployment, with full details to follow once applied. The later maintenance announcement gives a service window but does not itself enumerate completed repairs. It would be premature to say that a particular boss, tutorial or party bug is fixed on that evidence.
Look next for an official completion notice and patch details. For now, coordinate the server and keep the dungeon advice separate from any expectation that downtime will resolve every reported issue.
Buying and handheld caveats
The U.S. Steam page checked November 4 lists the game at $29.99. That is a regional store observation, not a worldwide price. XLGAMES also says Steam Family Sharing is not supported, so a group should not plan around access through one shared library.
Steam displays Deck compatibility as Unknown, while XLGAMES’ November 4 response says Linux and Steam Deck are not officially supported. Those are different statements: the store label is not a compatibility verdict, and the developer’s position is not a test result from us. The listing also discloses kernel-level XIGNCODE3 anti-cheat.
