Warrior Cats: Clans of the Forest has launched on Steam, but its developer is already investigating control concerns. For a PC buyer, that acknowledgement matters more than a reassuring support badge. The listing recommends a gamepad; neither that recommendation nor a full-controller-support label establishes that the reported problems are fixed.

The October 23 developer notice says concerns have been received and are being investigated. At our 23:16 UTC check, it was still the latest of the five posts returned by the official announcement feed. It names no cause, affected device list, patch or fix date. This is reported buyer analysis, not our review: we have not played the game or reproduced an input problem.

Start with the game, then the edition

Bamtang Games’ adaptation of the Warrior Cats books, published by TRAILMARK Games, lets you create a cat and explore the Lake Territories. The Steam description advertises four original stories in Prophecy Mode, gathering and crafting, and turn-based battles. The action-adventure label should not be read as a promise of real-time combat.

That is the first useful filter. A book fan looking for Clan stories and a customizable character has a concrete premise to investigate. Someone expecting fast action should inspect the battle structure before buying. The store’s procedural-story promise also tells us nothing about how satisfying repeat runs will be; that needs play evidence.

Our October 23 US-store check found the Windows base game at $29.99, with October 23 listed as its release date. The Feral Edition bundle contained the base game and Prophecy Pack for $39.58; the separate pack was $14.99. Those are US prices at the check time, not a permanent discount or prices for other regions. We have not established that the pack is necessary, or evaluated its value. Resolve the base-game fit before paying for more.

A controller recommendation is not a remedy

Steam’s current metadata lists full controller support and Gamepad Recommended. That describes the intended setup. It does not identify the source of the concerns acknowledged by the developer, and it is not evidence that swapping input devices cures them. The notice itself does not narrow its investigation to a particular control scheme.

Buyers planning to use mouse and keyboard should look for a specific updated explanation of that setup rather than assume a gamepad label answers their question. Controller buyers need the same distinction: supported does not mean independently tested by us. We are not making a Steam Deck recommendation from these labels, either. The advertised online features need a similarly careful reading: the store describes asynchronous camp visits and skirmishes. Do not read that as a promise of real-time co-op with friends.

There is another practical limit for Polish readers: the current Steam language list includes English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch, but not Polish. That is worth checking before purchasing a story-led adaptation for someone who needs Polish text.

Two launch accounts, two different buying questions

kokobolt ! recommends the game and enjoys its light cat-RPG premise and nostalgic presentation. The same account reports three computer crashes despite low graphics settings, with no identified cause. The positive recommendation cannot honestly be summarized as a clean technical report.

legoplays208211 does not recommend it, criticizing exploration, predictable combat and the resource loop while still seeing promise in its story and designs. Those are judgments about the activities between story beats, not just a complaint about launch controls.

Both pages were independently reopened on October 23. These are two self-selected early accounts, not a representative survey, a crash rate or our verdict. Their executable builds and relevant hardware are not established. They are useful because they separate two questions: can the buyer comfortably run and control the game, and will the advertised routine actually appeal to them?

The next useful checkpoint

A control update could change the technical buying picture without changing someone’s taste for the exploration or battles. Our Grand Gourmet buyer analysis makes a similar distinction between a familiar licence and the routine underneath it. Our PC coverage follows that distinction between the pitch and the evidence.

For Warrior Cats, the practical checkpoint is a developer explanation or patch naming what changed, followed by evidence about the setup you intend to use. Until then, franchise affection and storefront support labels leave important purchasing questions open.
