War Thunder's latest live update is mostly a cleanup pass, but the GBT 155 reload cut is the kind of line players notice immediately.

War Thunder has a new live patch out, and the most useful change is easy to spot. Update 2.55.0.21 cuts the GBT 155 reload from 10 seconds to 6.5, while also fixing a spread of aircraft, ground, naval, UI, and map bugs.

That makes this a maintenance patch with one real gameplay hook, not a vague “stability update” post. Gaijin’s official notes also fix an F-15I HUD text-key issue tied to SPICE bomb selection, correct Prinz Eugen roll behavior, and clean up targeting, sound, controller, and terrain problems across the live build.

What War Thunder update 2.55.0.21 changes

The ground-side GBT 155 change is the headline because it is concrete and immediate. A reload cut that large is something regular players will actually feel in matches, unlike a generic note about backend tuning. The same patch also adjusts the BTR-3E1 turret elevation and speed, fixes recoil on the ZTZ96B, and corrects armor on the Ajax headlight area.

Outside ground battles, the patch fixes the F-15I weapon-selection HUD issue and a naval bug that affected long-range bot targeting. Gaijin also calls out cannon sound-positioning fixes, ship-hit feedback corrections, a controller issue in protection analysis, and floating terrain objects on some maps.

There is one restraint worth keeping. The official post says these patch notes cover key changes, not necessarily every live fix in the build. So the safest read is still the obvious one: 2.55.0.21 is a targeted cleanup update with a few player-facing lines that matter more than the rest.

During final verification, Steam’s official player-count endpoint showed 65,762 current players in War Thunder. That does not prove how players feel about this exact patch, and there is no clean reaction bucket strong enough to fake one. What it does show is scale. This is a live-service fix pass landing in a game with a large active audience.

For now, the short version is clean. War Thunder update 2.55.0.21 is a bug-fix patch, but the GBT 155 reload cut gives it one immediate gameplay hook on top of a wider batch of targeting, HUD, naval, and map repairs.
