Truckful adds post-story exploration, but fit still matters

Truckful makes the pickup’s cargo bed part of the adventure. Packing awkward goods, keeping them intact and reaching the next village are the pitch; the old forest supplies the mystery. October 22’s update adds a reason to return after the story, but it also changes how buyers should read older complaints about the camera and unfinished side jobs.

MythicOwl’s single-player delivery adventure launched on October 9. Our October 22 US Steam check found $17.99 against a $19.99 list price, a 10% introductory discount. Regional prices differ. This is reported buyer analysis, not a review: we have not played Truckful or tested the update, vehicle handling or save safety.

The delivery is the activity

The official store description puts physical cargo at the centre. You pack differently shaped goods into the pickup, then drive winding countryside roads and small towns. Think fish that need a quick delivery, or a fragile vase. Upgrades change the truck’s capabilities as villagers provide errands and help uncover the forest’s secrets.

That makes the buying question fairly specific. Does carrying a vulnerable load sound like the interesting part of a drive, or an interruption between places you would rather explore? Truckful’s description sells the former. A pretty village does not make the game a frictionless sightseeing trip: the advertised physics-based handling and fragile packages make transport itself the task.

We cannot judge whether that tension stays enjoyable through a campaign. We can separate the premise from the scenery. Start with packing and delivery. A small red truck does not promise an undemanding driving game.

What changes after the ending

In the October 22 version 1.1.0 notes, MythicOwl says Explore the Valley opens from the main menu after story completion. It lets players finish side jobs and replay missions from the Journal. The developer says it uses a separate “peak” save to leave story progress intact.

For someone who likes clearing a map after the ending, that is a meaningful change to the advertised package. It means an older account of waiting for mission replay should not become today’s claim that replay is missing. Save separation is still a developer statement, not a guarantee established by our testing.

The notes also say GPS guidance now covers side missions and garage stat bars use computed vehicle values. A new Cargo Protection stat is meant to show how much impact damage packages take with a particular cargo bed. Those changes address decisions around routes and equipment, not just how much there is to do after the credits.

Read the camera complaint with its reply

Noxsolus’s October 20 Steam account describes frustration with camera rotation on a keyboard without a numpad. On October 22, the developer replied that the early rebinding solution was imperfect and said 1.1.0 adds camera rotation by holding the right mouse button and dragging.

The complaint matters because an awkward input arrangement can spoil an otherwise appealing premise. The reply matters because repeating the complaint without it would misdescribe the current advertised controls. Neither establishes how well the new arrangement works on your setup. Steam recommends a gamepad; that recommendation is not our controller test.

JDT’s October 21 recommendation is a different signal: a purchaser pleased to have finished and waiting to replay missions for full completion. It predates 1.1.0. It shows one player’s appetite for returning, not proof of the new mode’s quality or a community verdict.

Buy for the cargo loop, not December

The same patch announcement schedules major scrap-collection and currency-economy work for December alongside a content update. That remains future work. Today’s purchase should make sense without assuming those plans will fix a particular frustration.

Steam lists Windows, macOS and Linux; listings do not establish performance on a specific machine. As in our Planet Zoo 2 buyer analysis, distinguish the game’s appeal from untested repair claims. Truckful has a clear place in indie games: delivery as a physical problem, with a countryside mystery around it. Version 1.1.0 broadens the advertised return trip. It cannot decide whether you enjoy carrying the load.
