Samson is now on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, with a large PC update arriving alongside it. Liquid Swords calls this Update 8, and it is more than a small launch-week patch: it adds a playable tutorial prologue, onboarding changes, mission work, vehicle-combat messaging, an emergency respawn option, XP and vehicle tuning, new enforcement factions, and new takedown jobs.
That is useful news for anyone who skipped the April PC launch. It is not proof that the game has fixed its bigger problems. Steam’s lifetime summary was still Mixed at final check, with 1,814 positive and 1,491 negative reviews across 3,305 total. The honest read is a repair watch, not a comeback story.
The console launch has a real PC counterpart
Liquid Swords says Samson is live on Xbox Series X|S and PS5, while Update 8 is now live for PC. The update list focuses on making the early game easier to parse and smoothing rough edges: the new prologue and onboarding changes matter more than cosmetic additions if you bounced off the original opening.
There is also practical system work in the list. The studio says it has adjusted XP and vehicle balance, expanded mission variety, added factions and takedown jobs, and changed messaging around vehicle combat. Those are concrete changes. They are not the same thing as an independent performance or quality verdict on either console.
Steam gives the buyer warning its proper weight
The PC store page currently lists Samson at $12.49 USD, down from $24.99 in a 50% promotion. It also still carries a Mixed lifetime user-review label. The review endpoint’s exact count moved by a single negative review during this final refresh, which is a decent reminder that these are live store signals, not a stable verdict.
Steam’s current-player endpoint returned 88 players at capture. That number is neither a launch peak nor evidence of the game’s long-term health. It simply says the PC population is modest at this moment, while the larger review history remains difficult for any new patch to erase overnight.
Do not confuse a bigger patch with a clean reset
The useful thing about this launch is that Liquid Swords has tied its console moment to a tangible repair pass instead of asking players to treat a new storefront as a fresh game. Players on Xbox and PS5 have a new option; returning PC players have a meaningful list of changes to inspect.
What is still missing is the evidence that Update 8 changes the PC experience enough to reverse the existing reception. We do not have a measured console performance read, a meaningful console review sample, or a post-update Steam trend that supports calling this a turnaround.
For now, the buyer call is simple: interested console players can treat Samson as a new, discounted-entry-point game with a big day-one PC update behind it. Existing PC players should look at the Update 8 notes, but wait for actual post-patch feedback before assuming the repair job is done.
