Rooms & Roomies heads to Essen with a double furniture puzzle

3 min read

Rooms & Roomies turns a furniture-store trip into two connected puzzles: load the van, then make the furniture fit at home. Deep Print Games’ new board game is due at SPIEL Essen, with Pegasus announcing a €39.99 German recommended price and a show-floor bonus for buyers.

A useful shopping haul can still leave you with awkward rooms. That makes this an interesting demo stop for people who like spatial puzzles.

Your van is only the first problem

According to Pegasus’ October 16 announcement, shopping means collecting furniture tiles and fitting them onto a cardboard van. Efficient loading can earn a vehicle upgrade or extra loading space. Back home, the furniture has placement constraints: flooring must match, wall furniture belongs against walls, and doors need attention.

Roommates add another layer through their individual furnishing wishes. The game ends after four rounds, with penalties for neglecting basic facilities or blocking windows with tall furniture. Most points wins; the shared-apartment theme does not make it a cooperative game.

Before buying, ask to play through loading and furnishing the same batch of tiles. That should give a clearer sense of the decision than either step in isolation. GameGuideDog has not played Rooms & Roomies; this is a reported launch guide, not a review.

Essen price, bonus and a first-print correction

The publisher lists one to five players, ages ten and up, and 30–75 minutes. Its product page lists German and English, with rulebooks available in both languages. A Polish edition is not established by these sources. The official rules video above is in German.

Pegasus says the game will be available at its Hall 3, M120 stand and Deep Print’s Hall 3, B300 stand. SPIEL runs October 22–25; this fair launch is not a confirmed worldwide retail date. Buying a copy there includes Roomie-Pack 1 free: four additional roommate cards and tiles. The pack also has a regular €4.99 recommended price, so the offer should not be mistaken for content available only at the show.

One practical detail is already on the product page: the first printing contains 19 voucher tiles rather than the stated 20. Deep Print says this does not affect playability. Check that correction before assuming your copy is missing a piece.
