No Man’s Sky Forsaken: returner gains and iOS checks

5 min read

No Man’s Sky’s Forsaken 7.10 update gives returning players a useful split: new reasons to salvage and build, plus changes to everyday travel and controls. Hello Games also ties the announcement to its iPhone and iPad edition. That second part needs a more cautious buying decision: the developer’s launch wording and the US App Store listing did not agree when checked on October 28.

The practical distinction is between updating a game you already own and paying for another version. Forsaken’s published notes explain what existing players can try. They do not establish mobile performance, transfer an existing purchase or resolve every device question. This is a reported analysis of those sources, not a hands-on review.

Returning players: check the small changes first

The Halloween hook is salvage. Hello Games says haunting mementos can be found in places including infested outposts, deep-space hulks, derelict freighters and planetary digsites. They can attract hostile boundary horrors. Forsaken traders at space outposts exchange those finds for biomechanical corvette modules; the update also adds cockpits, interiors and larva-themed equipment.

That is a specific reason to return if collecting parts and shaping a ship is already your thing. It is not enough to conclude that the rewards justify the grind: we have not played it. The published reward loop is the evidence, not a tested verdict on its pacing.

The less theatrical changes may matter more often. Nearby stars can now be targeted and warped to without opening the Galaxy Map. Multi-Tool modes get a radial selector. A minimal HUD setting reduces elements including the compass, hazard display and mission notifications. Those changes address navigation and selection rather than adding another destination to clear.

For an established player, that is our strongest reason to investigate the update: try the controls before committing to the new salvage loop. Hello Games describes the update as free. Its advertised convenience is not a promise of measured time savings or better performance on your setup.

Courier work has an equipment gate

Space courier missions are another concrete addition, but the notes specify a corvette and a Gravitino Coil. Do not read the delivery-driver pitch as a job every new save can immediately take. If you are returning mainly for package runs, check that equipment first.

The notes also allow deep-space orbital constructions to be uploaded to the server. For players who build, sharing an existing project may be a more direct reason to log back in than chasing the new cosmetics. Again, that is a reading of the documented feature, not confirmation that we have uploaded a base successfully.

Our earlier Swarm coverage belongs to a different update cycle. Forsaken’s changes should be judged on their own terms, not treated as a fresh verdict on every previous addition.

Mobile buyers: the full game is not simply free

Hello Games’ October 28 announcement says the beginning of the iPhone and iPad game is free to try, with Forsaken included from day one. The US App Store listing independently describes a free beginning and a one-time full-game purchase; it showed $19.99 for the unlock in our October 28 check.

That distinction matters before comparing versions. A free download label does not mean the entire game is free, and neither that label nor the developer’s update announcement establishes that owning the game elsewhere unlocks the Apple edition. We have not verified an ownership-transfer entitlement.

Availability also needs checking on the actual device. At approximately 15:17 UTC on October 28, the US Apple page still showed an expected October 29 release, while Hello Games said the trial was available from today. We cannot resolve that discrepancy into a confirmed universal launch, an outage or a delay. Check your regional listing rather than assuming we have verified a download. We have not.

Confirm the device, then try before unlocking

The device wording is not identical either. The announcement names iPhone 11 and later and third-generation iPad Air and later. Apple lists iOS or iPadOS 26 and an A12 Bionic chip or later, and includes XS/XR models. We would not turn those differing descriptions into an unconditional recommendation for an older handset. Confirm eligibility on your device and use the trial before paying if it is available to you.

Hello Games advertises work on touch controls, battery life and thermals. We have no installed tests of those claims. Nor does the general cross-save FAQ’s observed platform list establish iOS support for the particular transfer you need. Verify that route before buying mainly to continue an existing save.

For PC shoppers, the US Steam page showed $23.99, reduced from $59.99, through November 9 on October 28. That is a separate storefront offer, not the Apple unlock price or a cross-buy deal. Existing owners can investigate Forsaken’s controls and equipment-gated missions; mobile buyers should settle availability, device support and purchase terms first.
