Gothic: A Shadow’s Quest has a substantial crowdfunding audience, and its four main pledges pose a practical question: how much of the price is for the game, and how much is for the components you want around it?
In its October 10 crowdfunding roundup, Brettspiel News listed €501,244 and 2,119 backers for the project. That is an attributed, dated third-party snapshot, not a direct reading of Gamefound’s live counters or evidence of delivered games. THQ Nordic’s current homepage says the campaign ends October 23 at 15:00 CEST.
This is not a new launch today. The publisher’s August showcase recap announced a September 30 crowdfunding start. The useful October story is the buying decision while the campaign is still open. GameGuideDog has not played this board game; this is reported buyer coverage, not a firsthand review.
Start with the €80 game, then compare the upgrades
The official campaign reward listings, as indexed at our check, give four main options:
| Edition | Listed pledge | Main component distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Campfire | €80 | Complete game with cardboard enemies |
| Old Camp | €110 | Acrylic enemy figures |
| Ore Baron | €199 | More than 100 miniatures |
| All-In | €249 | Ultimate edition plus accessories |
These are advertised pledge amounts, not verified final totals for your address. Shipping and taxes need checking before payment. The September 30 report from Planszowe Newsy independently lists the same four prices and explicitly says to add postage and tax.
The distinction gives newcomers a useful stopping point. The €80 option is presented as a complete game; the higher tiers should be compared on what they add to your table, rather than treated as an automatic ladder toward the version you are supposed to buy. Acrylic figures and miniatures are different physical choices. A larger funding total does not establish that either choice improves the game.

Be particularly careful with the separate €110 miniature set: its reward description says it does not include the game. It is not another name for the €110 Old Camp edition. Matching prices are not matching contents.
A familiar world is not a tested tabletop verdict
THQ Nordic’s showcase recap describes an adventure in the Colony, playable solo or in a group of up to four adventurers. That premise gives Gothic players a recognizable setting and a clear reason to investigate the adaptation. It does not tell us how well the final rules work, how smoothly a group learns them, or whether the campaign will hold its attention.
The official video above is promotional material from the publisher. Use it to see the presentation; do not mistake it for an independent assessment. We are not borrowing review scores or claiming that backing figures represent satisfied players.

September 2027 is an estimate
The campaign’s listed delivery window is September 2027. That is an estimate, not a promise that the box will reach your door that month. Check the current reward contents, language, shipping destination, tax treatment and delivery terms on Gamefound before backing.
For another component-versus-campaign comparison, see our Nemesis Legacy edition guide. Existing owners weighing new content rather than another core box can read our Conan pledge guide. More coverage is in board games.
The immediate decision is straightforward: choose the actual game first, decide separately whether the component upgrades are worth their premium, and budget for the delivered total. The next fixed checkpoint is the publisher’s October 23 campaign deadline.
