Star Wars: Galactic Racer launched October 6 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, according to Fuse Games and publisher Secret Mode. The US Steam listing remains buyable. The buying questions are which edition you need, what the PC listing requires and how little opening-day reactions can tell you.

This is launch reporting, not a GameGuideDog review. No installed build, performance benchmark or matchmaking test informs this article. Console availability is the developer’s announcement; console checkout and regional prices were not independently tested.

Podracers have their own races

The developer’s launch announcement describes a runs-based racing game with Shade’s single-player campaign, Arcade and Scenario events, and online quick races or longer runs-based competitions.

The podracing imagery does not tell the whole story. Landspeeders, speeder bikes and skim speeders compete together; podracers race separately because of their size and speed, according to the developer. If you want podracing specifically, do not assume every race uses those vehicles. The runs-based description also leaves the quality of campaign progression unanswered.

Steam advertises full controller support and cross-platform multiplayer, and the developers recommend a controller. Those are listed features and advice, not confirmation that crossplay or a particular input setup worked in our tests.

Deluxe includes vehicles and events

At the October 6, 11:16 UTC check, the US Steam store listed the standard game at $59.99, Deluxe at $79.99 and the separate Deluxe Upgrade at $19.99. These are US dollar prices, not quotes for Poland or consoles.

The store lists three exclusive Kor Sarun vehicles, a livery, three Arcade events, a multiplayer player banner and a digital art book for Deluxe. Calling the extra package cosmetic-only would miss the vehicles and events. Equally, its contents do not establish a competitive advantage or justify the extra spend without assessing them in play.

Choose the extras you actually want. The standard listing is already buyable; Deluxe’s presence is not evidence that it is the better starting point.

Denuvo, an SSD and no Deck verdict

Steam discloses Denuvo Anti-Tamper with a five-machine activation limit and a third-party EULA. That disclosure does not settle offline behavior, which has not been verified here.

The advertised minimum is Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 12GB RAM and an RTX 2060, Intel Arc A580 or Radeon RX 5600 XT 6GB. Storage is listed at 50GB, with an SSD required. No resolution or frame-rate target is established by those requirements.

Steam Deck compatibility reads Unknown. That is not a supported or unsupported verdict. Steam’s platform metadata lists Windows, not native Linux or macOS; it does not prove Proton fails. Deck buyers still need device-specific evidence before treating the game as a safe purchase for that machine.

Opening reactions cannot settle current quality

The official feed checked October 21 includes the October 12 general stability update and October 20 Rivals and Backers feature post. Those later developer announcements are not a fresh test of Deck compatibility, matchmaking or campaign quality. The launch accounts below predate that support work; their installed versions remain unknown.

At 11:16 UTC on October 6, Steam’s all-language, all-purchase review API reported 67 positive and 21 negative reviews, 88 total, labelled Mostly Positive. This is a historical opening snapshot, not current consensus. It is separate from the storefront’s filtered Your Languages count.

The individual accounts also have limits. bowie knife99 welcomed the arcade-racer appeal after 30 minutes recorded at review time. Dark Dragon praised the racing but found the characters superficial; that account reports receiving the game free and is not a Steam-purchase review. Neither substitutes for independent launch-build testing.

Availability is now concrete. Performance, input flexibility and the full campaign’s quality still need evidence. Check the Steam listing against your hardware and edition preference before spending; the launch date alone answers neither question.
