Conan Exiles Enhanced: console saves and servers explained

Conan Exiles Enhanced is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in early 2027 as a free upgrade for existing console owners. For anyone with an established world, the migration rules matter most: official servers move forward, existing Isle of Siptah bases cannot be preserved, and converting a single-player save is one-way.

Funcom’s October 27 FAQ makes this more consequential than a graphics upgrade. Keeping access to both game versions does not mean keeping the same services in both. Legacy will remain playable, but its official servers and Bazaar will go away after the transition.

This is reported analysis of the announced rules, not a hands-on review. We have not tested console performance, save conversion or server migration. The release window is a plan; a precise date and preparation instructions are still pending.

Your map determines what Funcom promises to preserve

For official Legacy Exiled Lands servers, Funcom says the server will become Enhanced and characters, followers and bases will carry forward unaffected. That is the preservation promise in the FAQ, and its scope matters: it concerns official Exiled Lands servers.

Isle of Siptah has a different outcome. Funcom says integrating the island with the Exiled Lands required changing its coordinates, so existing Siptah bases cannot be preserved during the upgrade. Separate Siptah servers will merge with Exiled Lands servers. The expansion itself remains a separate purchase; connecting the maps does not make it free.

For an Exiled Lands builder, the announced plan is continuity. For a Siptah builder, it includes losing the existing base. Neither reading establishes how every private server or other Siptah asset will be handled. Funcom promises more guidance for players and private hosts closer to release. Until then, do not extend the Exiled Lands assurance to a different map or server setup.

Keeping Legacy means giving up official servers

Enhanced will be a separate console game rather than simply replacing the old application. Existing owners receive access for free, and Funcom says buying either version gives access to both. PS Blog confirms that arrangement for PS4 and PS5, along with purchased Bazaar items and DLC carrying forward.

Owning both versions does not buy equal ongoing support. Legacy will receive necessary critical-bug updates, but no new major content. Players can continue alone or on private servers; official-server access will require Enhanced after those servers transition.

Solo players and official-server groups face different choices. A solo player can choose to stay with Legacy’s limits. A group that wants to remain on official servers needs to plan around the move. The announcement does not yet provide the migration timetable or private-host procedure needed to turn that choice into a reliable checklist.

Single-player saves have their own irreversible step. Funcom says they transfer to Enhanced, but once loaded there they can no longer open in Legacy. Without a backup, the conversion is permanent. Access to both applications is therefore not a rollback option for the same converted save. Wait for platform-specific preparation guidance rather than assuming a backup method works on your console.

Purchases move forward; the Bazaar does not stay behind

Funcom says existing Crom Coins, Bazaar items, DLC and Twitch Drops carry into Enhanced. Purchases made in Enhanced will not apply backwards to Legacy. When Legacy’s Bazaar closes, Crom Coins will no longer be usable in that version, although they transfer forward.

The distinction is between retaining purchases and retaining a shop in the old game. Funcom suggests spending currency before release if staying on Legacy. That is the publisher’s advice, not a reason from us to buy something now: the exact transition date is still unannounced.

Cross-play is promised after launch

The FAQ’s cross-play question can be read too quickly. Its answer says full cross-play is coming soon after launch, not on launch day. There is no cleared date for that later step.

Two responses in the October 27 announcement thread show different priorities: Tyler1997117 expressed enthusiasm and said they had recently moved from Series S to Series X; Droid_Crusader raised anti-cheat concerns about PC cross-play. These are individual, self-selected comments, not a community verdict or evidence that future cross-play will cause cheating.

Before converting a save or planning a group move, establish which map and server you use, what can be preserved, and what backup options Funcom actually documents.
