Dire Wolf’s Clank! anniversary Kickstarter is already above $1.1 million. A September 7 Tabletop Analytics snapshot showed $1,116,943 pledged against a $50,000 goal from 3,871 backers, with the campaign still running through September 29.
The number is a real early signal. The more useful story is what that money is buying: The Forgotten Vault expansion, refreshed Master Thief Editions for the original board-game line, and the Cube of Holding, a deluxe storage solution designed around a decade of Clank! boxes.
A campaign for collectors, with a new expansion inside it
Dire Wolf says the Cube is built to hold Clank! A Deck-Building Adventure and its six expansions, including the new Forgotten Vault. The company lists 33 miniatures, player tuckboxes, trays, and a long Dungeon Deck box with removable dividers. It is a collector upgrade first; the FAQ says its storage works with existing cardboard components and does not require the separate acrylic-token upgrade.
For players who care more about new table content, Forgotten Vault has the clearer hook. Dire Wolf describes two new maps, special moves tied to each map, study tokens that activate with Secret Tomes, Gargoyle tokens, and Echo cards that stay in play for another turn. The publisher says it intends this to be the final board-based expansion for the original Clank! line.
The Master Thief part matters most to owners deciding whether the campaign is an upgrade or a rebuy. Dire Wolf says the refreshed editions include revised boards and components, while the campaign’s Mastery Pack lets existing owners update copies without purchasing the full line again. That is the practical split: newcomers can look at the anniversary package as a big entry, while established owners can decide whether the expansion, storage, or upgrade pack is the part they actually need.
The buyer read
The current live total is more than twenty-two times the stated goal, but it is not a review score. It shows demand for a familiar game with a very collector-friendly pitch. It does not tell us whether the new maps are balanced, how smooth the revised components will feel at the table, or how the final production will land.
There are a few concrete limits. The Kickstarter is for the English-language edition; Dire Wolf says localized Master Thief Editions will come to retail separately over time. The FAQ also says the Master Thief Editions are planned for friendly local game stores, while the Cube and some cosmetics are intended for later direct sale. Some promos are campaign-only, and the publisher says it will absorb tariffs, though normal crowdfunding timing and final-production risk still apply.
That makes this a useful campaign to watch rather than a blanket recommendation. Clank! has a real $1.1M launch signal, but the sensible pledge depends on whether you want a new expansion, an upgrade path, or a very large box for an existing collection.
