Call of Duty: Mobile Season 4 Eternal Prison starts April 22 with a real Rebirth Island shake-up

The useful part here is not just the season name. Activision is making a real map-and-mode push, and Rebirth Island is the center of it.

Call of Duty: Mobile has its next real checkpoint locked in. Season 4 — Eternal Prison starts on April 22 at 5 PM PT, and Activision is attaching actual mode-level changes to the rollout instead of dropping a thin battle pass teaser and calling it a day.

The headline is Rebirth Island. Season 4 pushes the map into DMZ: Recon with a new extraction setup, a boss encounter tied to the first exfil, a Stronghold area, and a high-danger prison zone that is meant to turn the middle of the match into a louder risk-reward fight. At the same time, Battle Royale gets its own Rebirth Island pass with UAV Towers, Contracts, Buy Stations, and purchasable killstreaks.

That is enough to make this a real player-facing season shift. It still reads as first-party material, so there is no honest way to claim broad player sentiment yet. But for active players, the useful question is simpler: what actually changes when the update lands?

What looks most important in Season 4

The cleanest gameplay hook is that Rebirth Island is no longer just a Battle Royale backdrop. Activision says the map is being built into DMZ: Recon with a dual-switch extraction sequence, a mandatory Nikto boss fight on the first successful extraction attempt, and a prison zone that has to be manually opened in timed windows.

That matters because it changes the texture of the mode, not only its reward track. Season 4 is also adding Ultimate-tier loot, recipe-based gear crafting, and a radiation collapse that squeezes the island toward the prison as a match progresses. If you actually play DMZ: Recon, this is the part worth paying attention to.

On the Battle Royale side, the practical additions are easier to read. Activision says respawn limits are removed as long as squad conditions still allow redeploys, and Rebirth Island matches get more tactical clutter in a good way: UAV Towers to scan, Contracts to pick up, Buy Stations to route around, and Bomb Drone, Attack Drone, and Precision Airstrike purchases through those stations.

This is also a full seasonal economy reset, not just a map patch

Season 4 brings the usual monetized layer too, but there are a few concrete reasons to note it beyond cosmetics. The new Battle Pass adds the DP27 LMG on the free track, while the seasonal store rotation introduces the Toxic Overload Battle Royale class and a stack of themed rewards tied to the wider event cycle.

Activision is also pushing a Godzilla x Kong collaboration, plus the Operation Rebirth event and another Cache Frenzy run. Some of that is standard live-service packaging, but it still matters if you are deciding whether to jump in at season start or wait for the first week to settle.

What players should not overstate yet

The boundaries are pretty clear. This packet supports the launch timing and the shape of the update. It does not support claims about how well the new balance will land, whether the DMZ changes feel better in practice, or how stable the rollout will be once the season goes live.

So the honest read is narrow and useful. Call of Duty: Mobile Season 4 — Eternal Prison looks like a meaningful Rebirth Island update for both DMZ: Recon and Battle Royale, not just a fresh pass and a few themed skins. If you stepped away for a while, April 22 is a real reason to check back in.
