Apex Legends has a new live patch out dated April 1, and the clean takeaway is pretty simple: Daredevil just lost Fast Reloads, while Stim Surge and Thick Skin both got adjusted in the same pass. Respawn also used the patch to clean up a string of practical issues around audio, Gibraltar, and overall server/client stability.
That keeps this in the small-update lane, but it is still a real one. The patch does not try to sell a whole new event cycle. It just changes a few things current players will actually feel.
What the Apex Legends April 1 update changes
The official Steam patch post says Fast Reloads was removed from Daredevil. At the same time, Respawn increased the maximum extension for Stim Surge to 6 seconds and reduced Thick Skin to -5 HP instead of -10.
Outside the balance adjustments, the bigger list is cleanup work. Respawn says the patch improves audio stability across modes, fixes cases where sounds failed to play, stops Gibraltar’s arm shield from blocking view while crouched, corrects a Dual Katana inspect issue, and fixes a slide slowdown bug tied to using a Shield Cell with the Epyon Heat Rod equipped. The patch also cleans up a Back Fire skydive sound issue, removes account badges incorrectly awarded after a recent Buster Rifle stats bug, and includes broader server and client crash fixes.
That is the useful frame here. This is not a giant meta rewrite. It is a maintenance-heavy patch with one targeted Daredevil nerf and two compensating adjustments around it. During final verification, Steam’s public player-count endpoint showed 82,366 current players, so Respawn is making these fixes while the game still has a large live audience to absorb them right away.
